Wockhardt Recalls BP Drug
September 2, 2014
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Friday that Wockhardt has initiated a voluntary recall of its high blood pressure medication.
Wockhardt is pulling more than 11,500 high density polyethylene plastic bottles of metoprolol succinate (Toprol-XL). This is the third recall this year. This most recent recall is due to failing a dissolution test.
In April, the Indian drugmaker recalled more than 100,000 bottles of metoprolol succinate for the same reason. After the FDA discovered manufacturing violations, two of the company’s manufacturing sites were been banned from exporting to the United States, Reuters reported.
